Traveling to Argentina's North is a voyage to a land of shades and deep contrasts. It is, no doubt, the region with more "historical" and "traditional" life, a place where pre-Columbian civilizations converge with a colonial past and a strongly-rooted folkloric present.

Jujuy, with its wild nature, its villages held in time - such as Purmamarca, Tilcara and Iruya, among other - the mysticism of Coyan customs, the Salinas Grandes (Great Salt Pans) and Quebrada de Humahuaca (Humahuaca Gorge), one of the region's most mysterious places, a desert that rises to the clouds through uneven colorful mountains.

Salta, with the charm of its colonial city and Valles Calchaquíes (Calchaquí Valleys). Tucumán, with its strong, captivating contrasts and Tafí del Valle's jungle. Catamarca, an unexplored paradise for adventure activities. All of them are marvelous places awaiting discovery.

A region associated with vineyards and wineries, valleys, the colossal Cordillera de los Andes (Andean Mountain Range) that seems to exceed the human scale and America's highest mountain peak: Aconcagua.

There is yet another place, with extravagant rocks and so many visible stars, such silence and solitude that, due to its unearthliness, deserves the name: "Valle de la Luna" (Valley of the Moon). But Talampaya National Park is even more difficult to describe, as photos fail to frame the huge, precipitous mountains that stand tall before us. The history of these places does not begin with the Inca, or with dinosaurs. It goes back much earlier, and it is worth discovering.

This is the region of the great rivers, the red soil and virgin jungle covered by gigantic trees and inhabited by extraordinary flora and fauna. A landscape of exuberant beauty that stretches to the most impressive spots in the region: Iguazú National Park and Iguazú Falls, Moconá Waterfalls, Iberá Estuaries and Chaco's plain.

Cataratas del Iguazú (Iguazú Falls) offers a sight that is a feast for the senses: hundreds of waterfalls, shivering sounds and a mist that seems to surround it all.

Wherever you look, the city of Buenos Aires, brims with culture, history and entertainment: theaters, cinemas, shows and the possibility of listening to its music: tango. The city also preserves myths and legends that may be discovered in a different way, walking, biking or navigating the waters of "Río de la Plata" (River Plate) on canoe or sailboat.

Beyond the "Great City", "La Pampa" unfolds. One of Argentina's wealthiest areas, offering the magic of a vast extension of distant horizons. It's the land of "gauchos", men on horseback, rural traditions and big "estancias" (ranches).
