Riding a bike has a way of turning the world into an ever-unfurling ribbon of sights, scents and sounds. Biking by its very nature allows you to travel longer distances while seeing the countryside up close and in detail.
There is an extensive road network throughout Argentina that guarantees many different biking options. From La Puna in Jujuy to the farthest point in Patagonia, there is always a track where you can ride a mountain bike, alongside the Andes range, for more than 4,000 miles. The smaller mountain ranges located in the central and western parts of the country give way to impressive uneven "slopes", like Cuesta del Obispo (Salta Province), Cuesta de Miranda (La Rioja Province) and others, where biking is also an exhilarating adventure.

A journey on two feet yields a satisfying sense of place and plenty of time to share discoveries with your companions. Take it slow or take it fast. Take your time and savor the serendipitous encounters that naturally unfold before your eyes.
The thousands of kilometers of the Andes range and its surrounding mountains make Argentina a special place for trekking. Patagonia presents unique challenges such as the expedition to the Southern Continental Ice, and the Central Andes await those who dream of its infinite heights. In the Northwest, you can walk along the same tracks as the Incas did, huge distances which reflect the grandeur of their empire.
- Walking: 2 to 3 hours a day on country lanes, footpaths and coastal or forest trails, all on relatively flat terrain, with an occasional hills to appreciate a great view.
- Hiking: 3 to 5 hours a day on a mix of footpaths and trails in gently rolling landscapes, with a few longer climbs to visit special sites or take in spectacular vistas. Layover days accommodate varying levels and preferences.
- Trekking: 5 to 9 hours a day of trekking over fairly hilly terrain along high meadow paths and/or well-maintained mountain trails, with a few steep ascents to make you feel invigorated.

Argentina was discovered, conquered and built "on horseback." The traditions, the epic mysticism and the folklore of the "gauchos" are still very much alive today. The local populations in the estancias still cross these vast stretches of land on "criollo" horses. A ride across the semi-arid Mendoza Andes, Salta or Neuquén, and other unexplored corners of this country, reveals many secret landscapes, which are only accessible on horseback.
