Esteros del Ibera is a natural environment very similar to the Pantanal in Brasil, and is ideal for wildlife safaris and bird watching or for relaxation and other outdoor activities in warm weather and beautiful rural surroundings. The wetlands are home to a variety of very precious species (deer, alligators, monkeys, capivaras) as well as more than 400 species of birds, and the area is thoroughly dedicated to the preservation of the natural life.
In the heart of the wetlands lies a beautiful estancia. A 12,000-hectare former cattle ranch on the edge of the Iberá estuary has now been transformed into a nature conservation program. A paradise for birding, and even if you are not a birdwatcher already, it is very easy to become one here! In the four different habitats of this former ranch, you can see an amazing number of birds, and many endangered species including many from the surrounding region that have found shelter here. You will learn about their behavior, environments, migrations, and the dangers they face brought on by human disregard for their environment- an encouraging experience that appeals to all ages.
